what's better, a fishing rod or a fishing pole?
fairly new to this fishing stuff. Currently have a zebco 330 and am thinking of buying a pole. Is it worth it or should i stick with the rod.
for those of you answering...a pole is a 8 metre long bar with the line at the end only, whereas the rod is only 3.3 metres with a reel.
l'm not exactly sure just what you're asking.
many people refer to a rod as a pole. if all you have is a reel, then by all means buy yourself a pole (or rod). the reel will work much better on a decent rod.
actually, a pole is a crude thing, made from a willow branch, piece of cane or bamboo or some other slender branch that is relatively straight, with the line tied to the end. there are new ones now days made of graphite or fiberglass that will usually collapse into shorter sections. they do not ordinarily have "eyes" or means to attach a reel.
a rod is a sleek piece of space age graphite or fiberglass with guides of a material incapable of being cut by the toughest fishing line, with a reel attachment called a "seat" that allows vibrations and bites to transmit to one's hand and strength to handle all of one's fish when used properly.
