Are you one of those long term gamers who owns a Nintendo Wii, a GameCube, a Nintendo 64, and of course a clutter of controllers and cables? Depending on the age of your firmware, you have a couple options to go with. Older versions of firmware can use the Twilight Princess hack. This requires you have a copy of Zelda Twilight Princess. Most people today prefer not to use the Twilight hack because it requires you to go out and buy or rent a copy of Zelda Twilight Princess. The method I talk about below is much easier.

The reason for this is because it's much easier to follow along with, and the best guides come with the files you need no matter which firmware version you have. This saves you the frustration of searching the web for the files and hoping you don't download a corrupted file that can harm your Wii. You also don't need to get a copy of Twilight Princess. We are not going to try and cover the step by step instructions of how to softmod Wii consoles here, but let us cover a brief overview. You will need to download the exploit files and the bootmii files onto your SD card. You will then be finding them on your SD card by going through the data management screens in your Wii options screen. Once you locate the files on the SD card tab, they will launch and do the work for you.
The first time you do this, I highly recommend you follow a video and illustration guide of the process. It makes learning how to softmod Wii systems very easy, and they often also have the files right along with the guides. The process to unlock your Wii and install the Homebrew channel can be done in under 15 minutes once you have your SD card and the files downloaded.
